Holy Week is also coming, and from the Hotel Born we want to advise you on the best plans to live this holiday regardless of your hobbies.

To enjoy gastronomy

Although they can be enjoyed all year round, they are typical of the Easter season, the panades, empanadas made with unleavened pasta and stuffed with meat with peas or sobrasada, meat alone or fish. Also typical are the cocarrois, empanadillas of sweet or salty pasta and stuffed with vegetables, raisins and pine nuts, a specialty inherited from the Arab culture. And for the sweet tooth, the robiols (sweet dumplings stuffed with angel hair, cream, cottage cheese, chocolate or jam) and crespells (cookies in the shape of a star, heart or flower).

Also typical in Easter are the confits, candies that penitents or caparutxes give to children during the processions. A few years later, on Easter Sunday, when the fast officially ends, people usually eat the Easter Frit, made with lamb. And of course, you can also enjoy other typical dishes and sweets of the island, such as ensaimada, sobrasada, coca de patata or arròs brut. Foods always made with products from the land and the Mediterranean Sea.

For traditional

Holy Week is synonymous with processions, which begin on Palm Sunday and take place in various churches on the island. The most important ones take place in Palma, all of them very close to the Born hotel.

● Holy Thursday: procession of Crist de la sang, in which the brotherhoods perform their penance in the center of the city.

● Good Friday: at noon there is a recreation of the Passion of Christ on the steps of the Cathedral of Palma, and in the afternoon the procession of the Holy Burial leaves the church of Sant Francesc.

● Easter Sunday: the Procession of the Holy Encounter between the risen Jesus and the Virgin Mary is represented.

● Angel Sunday: the Sunday after Easter, it is typical among the people of Palma to go up in pilgrimage to the Bellver Castle to share with family and friends an outdoor meal.

These are the so-called Pancaritats. In other parts of the island are also made this type of pilgrimage, highlighting Pollença, Alaró, Campos, Inca and Llucmajor.

There are several churches, parishes and convents near the Born hotel where these urns are located, such as the Seu, the church of Santa Eulalia, the convent of Santa Clara or the church of Sant Miquel.

In Mallorca there are plenty of places to discover. The good weather also encourages you to enjoy nature. We encourage you to organize some excursion around the island, whether scheduled or free.
